Blender render farm, run from inside Blender
TURNA is a cloud render farm for Blender only. A Blender add-on sends your scene, and TURNA splits the frames of your animation across 1, 2, 4 or 8 rented GPU machines in parallel. Prices start at €2.90 per hour, billed on elapsed time with no rounding up to the hour, and new accounts get €20 of free credit with no credit card required.
How does the TURNA render farm work?
- Install the TURNA add-on in Blender (4.0 to 5.2) like any other add-on.
- Open your scene and pick a tier: 1, 2, 4 or 8 machines.
- The add-on collects textures and linked files, shows the estimated cost, and waits for your go.
- Frames render in parallel and come back to your dashboard as they finish. Your computer stays free the whole time.
How much does a Blender render farm cost?
Four public tiers. The tier sets how many machines render in parallel, so it sets the speed. There is no subscription required.
| Tier | Machines in parallel | Price per hour |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1 | €2.90 |
| Boost | 2 | €7.90 |
| Max | 4 | €19.90 |
| Turbo | 8 | €49.90 |
How long does it take to render a Blender animation?
Render time is the time for one frame multiplied by the number of frames. Split across machines, it is divided by the number of machines. The examples below assume a TURNA machine renders a frame as fast as yours, which is conservative.
| Project | One computer | Standard (1 machine) | Turbo (8 machines) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-second shot 250 frames at 2 min per frame | 8 h 20 | 8 h 20 · €24.17 | 1 h 03 · €51.98 |
| 30-second animation 720 frames (24 fps) at 2 min per frame | 24 h 00 | 24 h 00 · €69.60 | 3 h 00 · €149.70 |
| Heavy VFX shot 120 frames at 9 min per frame | 18 h 00 | 18 h 00 · €52.20 | 2 h 15 · €112.27 |
Plug in your own numbers with the render time calculator (in French).
What the add-on handles for you
- Scene validation, with errors reported before upload
- Time and cost estimate shown in Blender before launch
- Cycles (CUDA and OptiX) and Eevee
- Automatic collection of textures and linked files
- Billing on elapsed time, with no rounding up to the hour
- Scene encrypted in transit, rendered in an isolated container with no outbound network, destroyed after the render
When is TURNA not the right choice?
If you work in Cinema 4D, Maya, 3ds Max, Houdini or Unreal Engine, or render with V-Ray, Redshift, Octane or Arnold, you need a general-purpose render farm. If you render a single still image, splitting across machines will not speed it up. And if your budget is zero and you have no deadline, SheepIt, a free community farm based on reciprocity, is the better answer.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to render a Blender animation on TURNA?
You pay the elapsed render time at the rate of the tier you pick, with no rounding up to the hour: Standard €2.90/h on 1 machine, Boost €7.90/h on 2 machines, Max €19.90/h on 4 machines, Turbo €49.90/h on 8 machines. For example, 250 frames at 2 minutes per frame cost €24.17 and take 8 h 20 on Standard, or €51.98 and 1 h 03 on Turbo. Going 8 times faster costs about 2 times more, not 8 times, because the total compute stays the same.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. New accounts receive €20 of free credit, with no credit card required. The credit is added once your email address is confirmed and the short onboarding questionnaire is answered.
Which Blender versions and render engines are supported?
The TURNA add-on works with Blender 4.0 to 5.2 and renders with Cycles (CUDA and OptiX) and Eevee. TURNA renders Blender scenes only: it does not support Cinema 4D, Maya, 3ds Max, Houdini, V-Ray, Redshift, Octane or Arnold.
Does a render farm speed up a single still image?
No. TURNA splits the frames of an animation across several machines, so one frame is always rendered by one machine. For a single still image, the only gain is the power of the GPU, not the number of machines.
Where do the renders run?
On rented GPUs, searched in Europe first. When no European GPU is available for the tier you picked, the job may run outside Europe rather than fail. Your account data, invoices and render history stay in Europe.
